Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Chemical Engineering. She holds a Ph.D. in Bioengineering from KAUST and a Master’s degree in Biochemistry from the University of Oxford. With over five years of experience in developing advanced biosensing technologies, she is recognized as a leading expert in the field.
Her groundbreaking innovations earned her a spot on the “25 Innovators Under 30” list, and she was invited to the prestigious Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting in 2023.
As the CEO of Gees, Dr. Walaa leads the company with a strategic vision that blends scientific excellence with entrepreneurial drive, aiming to deliver impactful, science-based health solutions.
Esraa Fakeih
CO-FOUNDER | CPO
Esraa holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from KAUST, specializing in biomedical sensors, and a Master's degree focused on energy harvesting devices. She brings over seven years of experience in sensor development.
Her research on wearable biosensors has been published in multiple scientific journals and earned her 3rd place in the Falling Walls competition. Beyond engineering, Esraa runs a creative design business, producing illustrations for global scientific journal covers.
As the CPO of Gees, she leads product strategy by merging microfluidic and sensing technologies with user-centered design to build intuitive tools for health monitoring.
Lama Alahdal
CO-FOUNDER | COO
As an MIT undergraduate in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, Lama brings a hands-on, impact-driven mindset to operations at Gees.
A former International Physics Olympiad medalist and a Misk Fellow, she is passionate about translating science into real-world solutions and thrives in fast-paced environments that blend engineering, design, and community.
At MIT, she leads the treasury of the Saudi Student Association and is a lab assistant in the EECS department.
